NEW YORK, NY, December 13, 2011 -- Shadows has been selected for the 2011 Denver Award in the Candle Manufacturers category by the U.S. Commerce Association (USCA).
The USCA "Best of Local Business" Award Program recognizes outstanding local businesses throughout the country. Each year, the USCA identifies companies that they believe have achieved exceptional marketing success in their local community and business category. These are local companies that enhance the positive image of small business through service to their customers and community.
Various sources of information were gathered and analyzed to choose the winners in each category. The 2011 USCA Award Program focuses on quality, not quantity. Winners are determined based on the information gathered both internally by the USCA and data provided by third parties.

Candles have always held the fascination of man since not long after he discovered fire. There's something mystical and romantic about flickering candlelight that is unmatched by light from any other source. Add fragrance to that mystique and you evoke memories and awaken the senses! Candles have always held that same fascination for us so in 1995 we established our giant candle company and started creating custom giant candles. Right away we started listening to our customers and found out they have the same fascination and crave that same unique candle. We have taken that to heart and strive to give you what you desire for your own personalized candle! Any candle on our site can be used in lanterns, indoors or outdoors. (The exception is our "Patio" candles, which must be burned outdoors.) If you need smaller candles for your outdoor lanterns, feel free to order them in the size you need, from anywhere in our store. All of Shadows candles can be used outdoors.
Shadows is getting around the world and loving it!! Shadows has been to the Paris international buyers show, we have a set of giant candles in the main lobby of an up-scale hotel in Dubai, our candles are in unique boutiques in Monaco and featured in specialty stores around Paris. Also, we were very excited to be in the Cannes Film Festival in 2002. In April of 2008 we sent 31 12 inch diameter by 54 inch tall candles to an exclusive estate in California to be spread out around the outside of the magnificent home.

CANDLE BURNING SAFETY
Always keep a burning candle within sight.
Never burn a candle on or near anything that can catch fire. ie; drapes, bedding, carpets, books, paper, flammable decorations, etc.
Keep candles out of the reach of children and pets. Don't place lighted candles where they can be knocked over by pets or children.
Trim candlewicks to 1/4 inch each time before burning. Long or crooked wicks cause uneven burning and dripping.
Always use a candleholder specifically designed for candle use. The candle holder should be heat resistant, sturdy and large enough tosafely hold the candle.
Be sure the candleholder is placed on a stable, heat-resistant surface. This will also help prevent damage to the surface the candle issetting on.
Keep burning candles away from drafts, vents, ceiling fans and air currents. This will help prevent rapid, uneven burning, and avoidflame flare-ups and sooting. Drafts can also blow lightweight curtains or papers into the flame where they can catch on fire.
Always burn candles in a well-ventilated room. Don't burn too many candles in a small room or in a "tight" home where air exchange islimited.
Never touch or move a burning candle when the wax is liquid.
Place burning candles at least three inches apart. This ensures they won't melt one another, or createdrafts that can cause the candles to flare.
Use a snuffer or extinguish the flame by "drowning" it in the wax. Never extinguish with water.
It's the safest way to prevent hotwax splatters.
When using a candle in a lantern (glass or metal) make sure there is at least 2 inches between the candle and the surface it's in. This ensures proper burning and ventilation.
Never use a candle as a night light.
